My writing integrates science and art
because I think the most exciting things happen in the space between disciplines, where perspectives and experiences differ. Through my creative, academic, and collaborative work, I want to unsettle assumptions about human bodies, behaviours, and societies and improve the way science is communicated.
My debut novel, The Breeding Season, explores the evolutionary basis of suicidal reproduction (which I study in my scientific life) within the context of a marriage between a scientist, Elise, and a writer, Dan. The book is represented by Gaby Naher and was published by Jane Palfreyman at Allen & Unwin in September, 2019.
